Android and iOS Eat Away At Mobile Gaming Competition

?

Remember when we told you about how Android gaming was eating away at its competition? Well friends, it?s looking like it?s a bigger deal than we previously thought. Android and iOS are tag-teaming to?beat down on the competition, by a long shot.?Mobile analytics firm Flurry concluded Android and iOS will this year generate $500 million more in revenue from the sales of games than DS and PSP makers. Oh and that?s not even the most shocking statistic. Flurry highlights the ?most striking trend is that iOS and Android games have tripled their market share from roughly 20% in 2009 to nearly 60% in just two years?.

The fact that Android is part of a trend eating away at mobile competition is nothing short of expected. I wonder if it has to do with the fact that?people understand?gaming is perhaps better on chipsets?like?the TI OMAP one or maybe that other upcoming NVIDIA chip?people have been whispering about.?Also, Android (and iOS) gamers can have their choice of gaming on their smartphones or tablets, adding for more variety. This study reveals that Sony and Nintendo will certainly have their work cut out for themselves. Take a gander at the pie chart detailing the specifics after the break.
