A brand new luxury Chinese-built cruise ship proved to tall for a suspension bridge spanning the Oujiang River located in Wenzhou city, Zhejiang, China after just leaving the shipyard.? The newly-built US $44 million ?Mingzhu No. 7? cruise ship struck the bottom of the bridge Wednesday morning, shearing off two of the vessels funnels as well as causing some damage to the bridge.

The captain of the ship has apparently already admitted that he had forgot to take into account the high tide and lack of passengers and cargo when making his calculations.

The new ship was built to accommodate up to 1,000 passengers however did not have any onboard at the time.? The ships maiden voyage is set for October.
