This week?s Booking Through Thursday question asks?
Do you read book reviews? Whose do you trust? Do they affect your reading habits? Your buying habits?
I most definitely do read book reviews! (and I write them, too! LOL).
I read reviews on Amazon, and on my fellow bloggers? book blogs. Sometimes I?ll see reviews in magazines or newspapers, and I?ll read those, too. I?ll read just about ANY book review if the book catches my eye ? and even sometimes if it doesn?t. If the review is there, I?ll probably read it.
But?
I only usually trust the reviews of my fellow book bloggers?and sometimes those of the Amazon reviewers. Okay, the reviews from Publishers Weekly are usually good enough, too. In fact, I?m slowly learning which reviewers I love getting recommendations from, as our tastes seem similar. To name a few: Amy?s, Kristi?s, Mary?s, and the other Kristi?s?(though, these are far from the only reviewers I?ll trust! There are too many to list here.)!
I can?t really afford to buy all the books that sound good to me, so the reviews don?t often affect my buying habits. And, I?m not sure they affect my reading habits, either, other than that by reading reviews, and finding more blogs with great reviews, I?ve become an even more voracious reader, and my TBR mountain just won?t stop growing! People wonder how I find so many books to add to my pile every Friday, and it?s mainly just because I blog-hop throughout the week, reading reviews, and adding to my lists! (plus, I find books via book-related eNewsletters, the library?s online catalogue,?and such, too).
